Mark Becker was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Intercollegiate Operations, overseeing all internal and external affairs, after joining Caltech on October 13, 2014 in the newly created role of Director of Sports Information and Marketing. He oversees all sports information, marketing, media and public relations and gameday operations, while performing various other duties within the department.
Becker spent the previous year as Director of Sports Information at Division II Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. where he performed the same function for a department that included three nationally ranked teams.
Prior to Mercy, Becker spent six months as Assistant Director of Sports Information and Events at Division III Stevens Institute of Technology, where he served as the primary contact for nine of 26 programs, three of which were nationally ranked, including No. 2/3 men's soccer. Becker spent the previous two years at Mercy as the Media Relations Assistant, serving as the primary contact for five sports and the secondary contact for all others while managing all marketing and media relations activities for the department.
Over his years in athletic administration, Becker has staffed games at the NCAA Division II women's soccer and softball tournaments and NCAA Division III men's tennis, lacrosse and volleyball tournaments, along with serving as the Event Manager/SID for various conference tournaments. He has also input game stats for Division I St. John's men's and women's basketball, volleyball and women's soccer.
Becker is also an adjunct professor for Sport Management in the School of Business at Mercy. He earned his master's degree in Sport Management from St. John's University after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications & Media Studies and Business Administration from Fordham University in 2011. Originally from Fort Thomas, Ky., he and his wife reside in Pasadena.
