The Caltech baseball squad opened their season with a pair of losses this weekend. On Friday afternoon at LaSierra they dropped a high scoring affair 21-13 then lost a 12-4 decision at home on Saturday to Pacifica.
During Friday's season opener in Riverside, Calif. the Beavers bats came alive as six players had multi-hit games. Daniel Sexton led the way with a 4-for-5 effort with two RBI's and two runs scored. Blaine Matulevich had a three hit day in his five at-bats while scoring three runs.
Unfortunately Caltech couldn't overcome a 14-error game which led to seven unearned runs in the loss.
In Saturday's home opener against Pacifica the Beavers let nine runs cross the plate in the first two innings before settling down. Caltech put a run on the board in the seventh and three in the eighth put it wasn't enough.
