The Caltech baseball team completes SCIAC play with a pair of single games the final weekend of April. The Beavers traveled to La Verne for a Friday afternoon contest with the Leopards before hosting the University of Redlands on Saturday afternoon.
Friday, April 29 - La Verne 13, Caltech 3 (Box Score)
La Verne scored at least one run in all but one inning en route to the win.
The Beavers scored the first run of the game when a Daniel Sexton two-out double scored Brian Penserini in the first inning. However, the home squad responded with two runs in the first inning and three runs in the second inning to grab control the game.
Leading 6-2, the Leopards sealed the game with a five run fifth inning. Caltech responded with a single run in the seventh inning but couldn't extended the game.
Saturday, April 30 - University of Redlands 13, Caltech 2 (Box Score)
The University of Redlands scored the game's first eight runs and never looked back in the final regular season SCIAC game of the season for both squads.
After opening the game with a two-run first inning, the Bulldogs tallied five in the second inning to seize control the game.
Trailing 8-0, the Beavers got on the board when Eric Schropp smashed a triple to right-centerfield to score Blaine Matuevich and David Caregga.
However, the Bulldogs tacked on a run in the fourth inning and four run in the fifth inning to round out the scoring.
Rob Rosenburg went all seven innings in his final start in a Beaver uniform.
On Friday afternoon the Bulldogs clinched the outright league championship with a one-run victory over Whittier.
