PASADENA, CA – The Cal Lutheran baseball team jumped out to big innings early en route to posting a 15-0 win over Caltech on Friday afternoon.
Cal Lutheran came into the game atop the SCIAC standings and ranked 10th in the nation.
The Kingsmen put a crooked number on the scoreboard in the first four innings in posting the win. The visitors scored three in first inning then plated two more runs in the second inning. They concluded their early outburst with five runs in the third inning then four runs in the fourth.
Cal Lutheran had six players record multi-hit days. Nick DeLorenzo had three hits and drove in four runs to pace their offense. Garrett Smith contributed two RBI's and scored three runs.
Blaine Matulevich went 2-for-2 and drew a walk as he reach base each time he came to plate for Caltech.
On the mound a five different Cal Lutheran players held the Beavers to four hits in combining for the shutout.
The teams get together on Saturday for a doubleheader in Thousand Oaks, CA.
