Beavers Complete Road Slate at Cal Lutheran

THOUSAND OAKS, CA – In their final road game of the 2013 season the Caltech baseball team fell to Cal Lutheran 9-0 on Sunday afternoon.

The Kingsmen came into the game as the nation's seventh ranked team and had already clinched the SCIAC's regular season title.

Cal Lutheran put their first run on the board in the first inning when lead-off hitter Jake Petersen scored on a John Leal double. The score remained 1-0 until the third inning when the home team plated four more runs.

In the fourth inning the Regals increased their lead to 7-0 when Leal and Garrett Smith crossed the plate. The score remained that way until the home the home team score once in the seventh and again in the eighth to round out the scoring.

Caltech starting pitcher Jerome Skelly threw his second complete game of the season. At the plate Brian Penserni, Albie Lavin and Skelly each had two-hit games.

The Beavers play their final home of the season on Tuesday when they entertain Chapman at 3 p.m.
