Caltech Concludes Schedule with Loss to Chapman

PASADENA, CA - The final baseball game of the season for Caltech went Chapman's way as they posted a 15-1 victory on Tuesday afternoon.

It was the final home game for five Caltech seniors as Mason Freedman, Jeff Kowalski, Blaine Matulevich, Brian Penserini and Scott Yantek all suited up for the final time in a Beaver uniform.

The Panthers got two runs on the board in the first inning as Tyler Cook and Eddie Aguayo each crossed the plate. Caltech pushed across a run in their half of the inning when Blaine Matulevich scored on an Andrew Felikian wild pitch.

Chapman started added more runs to the scoreboard in the third inning. They plated four runs on two hits while taking advantage of two Caltech errors in upping their lead to 5-0. A two-run fourth inning increased their cushion then they all but put the game out of reach with a five runs in the sixth inning.

The visitors finished off the contest's scoring with a pair of runs in the seventh inning on a Adam Velez two RBI double.

A four-some of Chapman hurlers held the Beavers to three hits while striking out 11.

Connor Battaglia, Matt Molnar and David Basen each had two hits for the Panthers.

Jerome Skelly, Derek Kearney and Thomas Kwok each had a base knock in the 2013 finale.
