PASADENA, CA – Making up the doubleheader that was washed out by weekend rain the first day of March, the Beavers entertained La Verne for two single games.
Monday, March3 - Game One – La Verne 16, Caltech 0 (Box Score)
The Leopards sent 12 men to the plate in the opening inning as they scored eight runs before the Beavers got to bat. La Verne never let up the rest of the game. La Verne scored in five of the seven innings.
A host of La Verne players posted multi-hit efforts. George Hanna went 2-for-4 from the leadoff spot. The senior drove in five runs and scored twice. Mark Jebbia also provided a 2-for-4 performance. Jebbia also scored twice while driving in three additional runs. Ben White and Pedro Edpinoza also pieced together two-hit efforts.
On the mound Kevin Knight went five innings where he struck out eight and gave up three hits.
For the Beavers Albie Lavin posted his first two-hit game of the season.
Tuesday, March 4 - Game Two - La Verne 18, Caltech 0 (Box Score)
Joe Winterburn went 5-for-5 at the plate to lead a 20-hit attack for the Leopards. The senior also scored three runs while driving in three more.
George Hanna pieced together a 3-for-5 performance with two runs scored an RBI to aid in the La Verne offensive onslaught. Nolan Henley and George Holland also had two hits for the Leopards.
Mark Jebbia gave-up one hit and struck out five to earn the win on the mound.
Daniel Chou reach base twice for the Beavers while Albie Lavin also recorded a base knock.
