TUCSON, AZ – On Saturday afternoon the Beavers offense was clicking as they split a doubleheader with Lawrence.
Game One – Lawrence 9, Caltech 8 (Box Score)
Caltech nearly came back from a 9-5 deficit to post the win. The Beavers scored three in the eighth inning to get themselves with striking distance in their final at-bat. However, Caltech couldn't push across another run as they fell.
During the opener a host of players posted multi-hit games. Daniel Chou went 2-for-4 with four RBI while Tim Menninger tallied a 2-for-4 effort with a triple and three runs scored. Ryan Casey, Harrison Jacobs and John Galden also tallied two-hit efforts. Casey and Jacobs also drove-in two runs.
Game Two – Caltech 15, Lawrence 1 (Box Score)
The Beavers offense continued their offensive onslaught during their four-day trip to Arizona as they banged out 15 hits in recording the win.
Tim Menninger led the charge as the first-year went 4-for-5 with four RBI and three runs scored. Daniel Chou put together a 3-for-5 performance while driving in three runs and scoring twice. Albie Lavin and Harrison Jacobs both had two hits.
Every Caltech starter posted at least one hit, scored a run or recorded an RBI.
It is the first time since the 2001 season a Caltech squad has given-up just one or fewer runs. Daniel Chou threw a complete game while scattering nine hits to earn his second career win in a Beaver uniform.
