LA JOLLA, Calif. (Nov. 6, 2016) – Sophomore Qifan Wang (Vancouver, B.C., Canada / Semiahmoo Secondary) matched his rookie-year finish at the elite-level BladeRunner ROC, placing 11th in an expanded field of 107 épeé fencers this past weekend.

Wang and classmate Alex White (Dallas, Texas / North Hills) each took a single loss in pool play to earn the #10 and #24 seeds, respectively, in direct elimination.  Wang went on to record a pair of decisive wins after a first-round bye, but fell in a 15-14 thriller to the #7 seed in the Table of 16.  White, meanwhile, claimed one victory before being upset in the second round by the #41 seed, although his final place of 38th marked a 29-spot improvement on his rookie year.  Junior Ethan Lo (Palo Alto, Calif. / Palo Alto Senior) also placed 27th overall, cruising through two wins in direct elimination before giving the #1 seed all he could handle in a 15-12 battle.

Head Coach Carla Corbit will lead Meyer and the Beavers in their first team competition and IFCSC opener in Riverside, Calif. on Saturday, Nov. 12.
