Caltech Men's Soccer Team made history today defeating the visiting Kingsmen of California Lutheran University by a score of 1-0 for the first time in school history. SCIAC powerhouse Cal Lutheran came into the game in 4th place in SCIAC with a season record of 8 wins and 7 losses overall and 6-4 in SCIAC play. The game was scoreless for 89 minutes of regulation play on outstanding Beaver defense and strong play in goal by freshman, Marcus Lucas who managed 11 saves on 17 shots by the Kingsmen. At the 89:36 minute mark (just 24 seconds remaining) Caltech sophomore, Grayson Chadwick executed a great pass to teammate junior, Tyler Volkoff who scored a spectacular goal striking the ball off of the far post and bouncing back into the opposite side of the net. This was goal number 6 on the 2008 season for Volkoff, the teams high scorer. "I am very proud of all the soccer players on this year's Caltech Soccer Team, they have not given up all year playing great soccer!" exclaimed Coach Rolando Uribe.
Next up, Caltech will take to the road to face the
Leopards of the University of La Verne on Saturday, 10/25
@ 11am.
GO TECH!!!
