Caltech Soccer Opens With Solid Defense

With the air quality cooperating from the nearby Station Fires, the Beavers opened the 2009 campaign with solid team effort playing host to the visiting Cobber's of Concordia University of Moorhead, MN.  Concordia was playing their second game in California and coming off of a 3-1 win over the Tigers of Occidental College found themselves in a real battle with the pesky Beavers.  Both teams played scoreless and solid defense for the first 84 minutes of the contest.  Concordia managed the lone goal of the game at the 84:47 mark when Cobber forward Riley McGlynn fired his second attempt of the day and scored the unassisted goal.

Concordia-Moorhead had 13 shots on goal to Caltech's 10 on the day while Cobber goalie Mads Schmidt had 2 saves and Beaver Marcus Lucas had 3.

Next up for the Caltech Soccer team is a "friendly" with the Beaver Alumni on Saturday, September 12th at 11am before the opening of SCIAC play on 9/16 at Pomona College.

 GO TECH!!!
