LA VERNE, Calif. (Sept. 10, 2016) – Sophomore Tristan Née (Carrollton, Calif. / R.L. Turner) scored on the Caltech men's soccer team's only shot on goal of the game in a 5-1 defeat at the University of La Verne on Saturday night.

The Leopards remain undefeated at 3-0-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the SCIAC while the Beavers dip to 0-3 (0-2).

The host Leopards came out firing from the first whistle, ripping six shots in the opening 15 minutes before netting their first goal on a cross in the 17th minute.  Senior J.D. Feist (Dallas, Texas / Jesuit College Prep) made what were already his third and fourth saves of the game over the next three minutes to fend off the continuing barrage.

La Verne scored twice in the final six minutes of the half, although Née would convert a penalty in the 72nd minute to put Caltech on the board.  The Leopards benefited from a penalty of their own  within the next minute, however, and notched another two minutes later for the final score line.

Head Coach Phil Murray and the Beavers head to Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (2-2, 1-1)  on Wednesday, Sept. 14.
