CLAREMONT, CA -- The ClaremontMuddScripps men's water polo squad raced out to a big lead and never looked back in posting an 11-3 win over Caltech on Wednesday afternoon.
The Stags, who came into the game ranked No. 1 among NCAA Division III schools, scored eight goals in the first period while holding Caltech scoreless.
ClaremontMuddScripps scored defense continued during the second eight minutes of action as they kept the Beavers off the board while putting up a goal of their own.
Caltech got on the board by outscoring the home squad 2-1 in the third period. In the final quarter of action each team found the back of the cage twice.
Ben Grabowski made five saves in front of the goal for Caltech.
The Beavers return to action on Saturday when they host La Verne at 11 a.m.
