ORANGE, Calif. (Oct. 19, 2016) – Caltech men's water polo held a 2-0 lead but was unable to muster enough offense against the game plan of Chapman University on Wednesday evening.

The Panthers strategy clearly centered on limiting SCIAC leading scorer Chris Bradley (Half Moon Bay, Calif. / Junipero Serra) and the hosts accomplished exactly that, holding the senior scoreless on seven attempts in the 14-6 victory.

Seniors Tomas Tussie (Weston, Fla. / Cypress Bay) and Jordan Bonilla (Weston, Fla./ Cypress Bay) fired the Beavers to a 2-0 lead halfway through the first quarter, but Chapman bounced back with goals on consecutive possessions to tie the game and took a 4-2 lead with another pair of late goals to end the quarter.  Tussie scored again to pull back within one at the outset of the second quarter, but Chapman rattled off five unanswered goals over the remainder of the second and through the third to lead 9-4 entering the final quarter.  Sophomore Charles Ross (Wexford, Pa. / North Allegheny) tallied a goal just before the buzzer in the third and classmate Eshan Govil (Redwood City, Calif. / Sacred Heart Prep) netted twice in the fourth while Shaurya Gilani (Chicago, Ill. / Adlai Stevenson) made 13 saves over the game.

Head Coach Jon Bonafede and the Beavers take on Concordia Irvine University (3-7) on Friday, Oct. 21 ahead of the two-game Chaffey Mini-Tournament on Saturday.
