PASADENA (Feb. 6, 2018) – The Caltech men's water polo team finished the 2017 season with a top-3 overall team GPA among teams in the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches, according to the association's official website. The Beavers moved up one spot from last year, when they finished with the fourth-highest cumulative GPA among ACWPC schools.
The individual student GPA's are broken down into three categories: Outstanding (4.0-3.71), superior (3.70-3.41) and excellent (3.40-3.20). Six Beavers qualified for the list, all of which finished in the "superior" tier. Among the six are junior Eshan Govil (Redwood City, Calif. / Sacred Heart Prep), junior Charles Ross (Wexford, Pa. / North Allegheny), junior John Lloyd (San Diego, Calif. / Torrey Pines), senior Richard May (Guilford, Conn. / Choate Rosemary Hall) and sophomore Anuj Chadha (Ealing, England / St. Paul's School) and senior David Berger Maneiro (Calabasas, Calif. / Viewpoint).
Govil, a bioengineering option and computer science minor, has formerly made the SCIAC All-Academic team and finished 2017 second on the team in shot attempts and total points, leading to an eight-goal increase from 2016-to-2017. The junior finished 2016 as the team's assist leader. Ross, meanwhile finished 2017 second among Beavers in goals and 14th among conference players.
