LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Members of the Caltech swimming team compete at the UNLV Winter Invitational in the final meet of the 2011 calendar year.
The three-day, 14-team event begins on Friday morning and runs through Monday evening. During the morning sessions the preliminary heats will be contested with the finals during the evening.

Highlighting the day for the Beavers was Jacqueline Mashei-Lano setting her third school record in just her fourth collegiate competition. The first year broke Jacki Wilber's 50 yard freestyle mark of 25.34 by .02 as the San Marino, Calif., native swam the race in 25.32. Wilber set the mark in 2003. Earlier this season she set the 100 yard and 200 yard butterfly records.
Sunday, Dec. 18
Mashei-Lano once again continued to impress as she reset the 100 yard butterfly record she set less than a month ago. During the morning session, she swam the event in 59.57 which was .05 faster than her time on Nov. 30 when she first set the mark. The first year didn't stop there as she broke the school record in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.62. That time broke Wilber's time of 1:03.70 which was also set in 2003.
Peter Buhler had a good swim in the 200 yard freestyle as the senior finished in 1:53.74. Buhler swam in the "C" final of the 100 yard backstroke where he touched the pad in 57.18.
Christian Rivas swam in the "C" final of the 100 breaststroke; completing the race in 1:03.55
Monday, Dec. 19
Rivas swam one of his best race in the 100 freestyle as the junior touched the pad in 50.73. Rivas completed his individual events in the 200 breaststroke by just missing the scoring final with a time of 2:31.48.
Mashei-Lano reset another school mark in the 200 yard butterfly by swimming the race in 2:14.22 which was 1.57 seconds better than her original record time set on Dec. 3.
