LA MIRADA, CA -- The Caltech swimming and diving team concluded their campaign at the season ending SCIAC Championships held at SPLASH! La Mirada from Feb. 17-19.
A handful of personal records were set while two Caltech swimmers continued to re-write the school record books.

Sophomore Ben Grabowski had a solid final in the one-meter diving competition. In just his second year of competitive diving he finished fourth with an 11-dive score of 326.25.
Jacqueline Masehi-Lano competed in the 50 yard final. The sophomore swam the final in 25.34. During the prelimary round she went a bit faster with a time of 25.06 which breaks the school record she set last season.

Similar to his efforts during the first day of competition Ben Grabowksi. After qualifying in seventh position during prelims he worked himself to the fourth position with an 11-dive total of 318.00 points.
Kevin Yu re-set his school record during the 100 butterfly competition. The first-year swam the event in 53.67 to top his previous best time of 54.07.
Jacqueline Masehi-Lano also re-set her school record during the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.74 in the prelim round. In the finals she touched the wall in 59.04. Before Monday, the school record was 59.57 which she set early during the 2011-12 season.

Once again, Yu and Masehi-Lano were solid competitors for the Beavers. Masehi-Lano reached the finals of the 200 yard butterfly. The sophomore swam the race in 2:12.99 to finished eighth.
Yu broke Caltech's 32-year old record in the 200 yard butterfly. During consolation final the first-year touched the wall in 2:00.54 to better the record of Chris McKinnon by .30 seconds.
The team standings saw the Caltech men score 162 points which was good enough to top Chapman for eighth place. The Beaver ladies scored 130 points to finish ninth.
