PASADENA, CA – The Caltech swimming and diving team hosted their final home meet of the season as they welcome Cal Lutheran and Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday afternoon.

The meet marked the final home event for five Caltech seniors as Jack Blackwood, Karen Dowling, Hanna Dodd, Thomas Kwong and Rachel Moore all participated for the Beavers a final time.

Complete Results

In a tri-meet that featured multi-heats in almost all the individual events, the Beavers preformed well against some of the best competition in the SCIAC.

Ben Grabowski continued his strong showing on the diving boards for the Beavers. The sophomore took second place in both the one- and three-meter competition. He finished just 3.60 points away from first place in the three-meter event. He scored 188.65 but Cal Lutheran's Ryan Brem was just a little better. Grabowski scored 199 points in one-meter, his second best effort ever, but Brem was just a notch ahead with 211.35 points.

Kevin Yu scored points for the Beavers with a fifth place finish during the 100 yard breaststroke. He swam a personal season best time of 1:03.89.

Jacqueline Masehi-Lano continued her winning ways as she posted a first place finish in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:08.78. It was the best time of the season for the sophomore in that event. She swam the 200 yard backstroke in 2:18.19 to finish third in that event. She concluded her meet with a first place finish in the 100 yard butterfly (59.15). Her times in both butterfly events were also school records. She previously held those school records; which she set last season.

Caltech continues to prepare for the season ending SCIAC championships. The Beavers host the diving preliminaries next week at the Rose Bowl on Feb. 9 & 10. The championships will be held in La Mirada, CA from Feb. 17-19.
