Andrew Lum enters his second season as the lead assistant for Caltech men’s and women’s swimming and diving.
In his first year with the program, Lum helped guide the Beavers to a wildly successful season with 26 broken school records, two SCIAC individual champions (Gallup and Takahashi), eight All-SCIAC performers, and both teams earning CSCAA Team Scholar All-America status. Additionally, Lum was instrumental in helping Tom Gallup and Brittany Percin earn invites to the NCAA Championships where Gallup placed 14th in the 100 Breast.
Prior to Caltech, Lum spent a year as an assistant with the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. A ’16 graduate of Willamette University, Lum was a team captain his senior year and became a multi-time Northwest Conference Championship finalist in the butterfly events. He also served as the president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Lum lives in Pasadena and is currently working towards his Masters of Education in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership from the University of Washington. He also works with the Rose Bowl Masters swim team as a swim and strength coach, and remains an avid swimmer with the Rose Bowl program.
