PASADENA, CA – On Saturday afternoon the Caltech track and field season began as they hosted their annual All-Comers meets at the Fox Stanton Track.
A handful of Beavers had good results in the first meet of the year.
Stephanie Reynolds produced two solid races at the 800 and 1500 meter distances. The sophomore finished third in the 800 with a time of 2:32.60; just over two seconds behind the top finisher. In the 1500 she placed second in 5:03.60; just behind Megan McNally's time of 5:00.48.
Paige Logan showed no ill signs of a lay-off between seasons as she picked-up where she left off by recording first place finishes in the discus (116-08) and shot put (38-11.50). The shot put mark tied her personal best which was already the school record. Her hammer throw of 122-09 was third best on the day but a personal best for her; just a few inches from the school record of 123.
Erin Martin took top honors in the 800 meter race with a time of 1:58.39. The sophomore won the race by just under two seconds.
Aditya Bhagavathi performed quite well in the 1500 meter race as he crossed the finish line in 4:09.56. Also in that race fellow first-year runner and teammate Alex Pien finished third in 4:15.46.
In the pole vault competition, William Hoza tallied a second place jump of 10-11.75.
No team scores were kept for the meet.
The Beavers squad travels to Pomona-Pitzer's All-Comers meet next Saturday.
