PASADENA, CA – The Caltech track and field began SCIAC action by hosting four-way meet on Saturday afternoon at the Fox Stanton Track. Cal Lutheran, ClaremontMuddScripps and Redlands participated in the first league competition of the season.
The Beavers posted a handful of first-place finishes in addition to moving-up the ranks on the school record board.
Paige Logan re-set the school record in the shot putt. The junior threw 39'8 1/4" in breaking the school record she set in 2011 and tied this season. Her throw bested her previous personal record by just over eight inches in claiming first place. During the hammer throw she recorded 125'5 3/4" in breaking the school record of Amy Oldenburg (123') set in 1995. In addition to her two school records, Logan won the discus throw with a distance of 116' 2 1/4".
Sarah Wright uncorked a throw of 127'7 1/2" in the javelin competition. The senior won the event and set a personal best by over 15 feet. That throw also moves her within seven feet of Kristen Zortman's school record set in 2005.

The ClaremontMuddScripps, Caltech dual meet will be on April 6. The two schools are SCIAC "travel partners" for the season but don't compete in a head-to-head competition until that meet in April.
