LA JOLLA, CA – On Friday and Saturday a handful of Beaver track and field student-athlete competed among some of the best competition the state of California and Nevada has to offer.
The 21st annual Cal-Nevada Championships, hosted by UC San Diego, featured competitors across from all three NCAA divisions as well as NAIA schools.
Eric Martin set a personal best time in the 800 meter and moved up to third on Caltech's all-time top 10 list. In his Friday afternoon heat the junior crossed the finish line in 1:55.26 which was a 0.25 improvement from his previous best mark. Furthermore, his time was the second best among all NCAA Division III schools.
Also on track Stephanie Reynolds ran the 1500 meter race in 5:14.07. During the men's race Adithya Bhagavathi ran the nearly four lap event in 4:04.39.
Paige Logan competed in two events. The senior top thrown during the hammer competition came in at 133'05". During the shot put she posted a top throw of 37' 1 1/4".
Bridget Connor competed in the javelin throw and recorded a top distance of 105' 1" in her three attempts. Ben Grabowski also participated in the javelin competition. The juniors top effort was a throw of 132' 1".
