Beavers Host SCIAC Four-Way

PASADENA, CA - Competing in their final SCIAC meet before the championships event, Caltech hosted Cal Lutheran, La Verne and Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday.

A handful of personal best and top half finishes highlighted the sunny afternoon for the Beavers.

William Hoza competed well in the pole vault competition as the sophomore's top height of 12'5" was good enough for second place.

Jordan Bonilla (118' 6 3/4") and Anup Kishore (118' 4 3/4") both set personal highs in the javelin throw. Bridget Connor fell just short of setting a personal best mark in javelin throw. Her best toss of 109' 6 3/4" was just over a foot away from a new best and she took fifth in the 13-person field.

Paige Logan grabbed two top five finishes. Her top throw of 115' 4 1/4" placed her fifth in the discus competition while her top throw in the shot put (35' 2") was the third best effort of the day.

On the track Eric Martin nearly won the 800 meter race with a time of 1:56.41. He finished second by just 0.03 seconds behind the top finisher.

Michael Ignatowich set a personal best time of 10:05.38 in the steeplechase to finish third. His time was a six second improvement from his previous best tally.

Victor Duan shaved .09 seconds off his previous personal best in the 100 meter dash by crossing the finish line in 11.80 on Saturday.

The league championships are in two weeks and will be hosted by Occidental.
