Peng Named SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (Jan. 26, 2018) – Junior guard Grace Peng (San Ramon, Calif. / California) became the third Caltech women's basketball player to receive conference recognition this season, being named SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Peng led the Beavers to a 2-0 week with a non-league win over the University of St. Katherine (90-61) and conference victory over Occidental College (69-61), with the latter win giving Caltech seven on the year for the most in program history. The junior averaged 19.5 points per game, including a 24-point effort against the Tigers, shooting 42-percent from the field and 44-percent from three-point range. She also converted 7-of-8 free throws in the final minute against Oxy to put a bow on the Beavers' first SCIAC win of the season.

Since returning, the junior guard has averaged 14.4 points per game to go with 1.8 assists per game and 2.6 rebounds per game while also leading the team in steals per game with 1.7.

Peng and the Beavers will be back on the road this Wednesday, Jan. 30 when they take on California Lutheran University at 7 p.m. in Thousand Oaks.
