Li, Kitto Claim Wins Before Falling at Ojai Tournament

OJAI, CA – Both Rebekah Kitto and Monica Li posted wins at the 114th annual Ojai Tennis Tournament before falling.


Each player went undefeated as both singles and doubles players.

Li advanced to the round of 16 by dispatching Adriana Cobos from Hope International. The sophomore dropped the first set in a tiebreaker but rebounded to win the final two sets 7-5 and 6-1 respectively.

Kitto had a similar story during her day. Entering the draw as the sixth ranked player, she fell in her first set to Liliana Serylo (Whittier) 6-3 but fought back to post wins of 6-4 and 6-0 in the final sets to advance to the round of 16.

Li and Kitto teamed up during the doubles portion of the tournament. In their first match against Gabi Etchegaray and Serylo they recorded a 6-4, 6-0 to advance to the round of eight on Friday morning.


Caroline Ward knocked off Li in their round of 16 match-up. The third seed from ClaremontMuddScripps recorded a 6-2, 6-1 win. Kitto also faced-off against a player from the Athenas roster. Kate Kuosman handed Kitto a 6-4, 6-4 set-back.

In their doubles match-up with Jeanette Losaria and Laina Matsuda from La Verne, the fourth seeded Leopards squad posted a  6-1, 6-0 victory.
