INDIANAPOLIS, IN – For the second straight season Rebekah Kitto has been selected to participate at the season ending NCAA tennis championships.
The senior is one of just 32 student-athletes who will compete in the singles competition beginning on May 22 at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, California hosted by the ClaremontMuddScripps Colleges. The selection of individuals for the championships are based on win-lost record, strength of schedule, and eligibility and availability of student-athletes.
The native of Jacksonville, Florida posted nine wins in her 15 matches dual matches this season. She was the Beavers primary No. 1 singles player. Kitto posted a straight sets win over Andrea Hammer (Chapman) who was also selected for the prestigious national event.
A three-time first-team SCIAC selection, she joins former Beaver student-athlete Laura Decker (Fencing) as the only female Caltech student-athletes to compete in back-to-back NCAA Championship event. Kitto was the first alternative from the west region for the 2012 championships.
Kitto holds the school record for most dual match wins in a career (53) and single season (19).
The draw for the individual championship will be done by the women's tennis committee and will be released on the last day of the team championship (May 21).
