Shorthanded Women Challenge No. 19 Brandeis

PASADENA (Feb. 19, 2018) – The Caltech women's tennis team forced two three-set matches against No. 19 Brandeis University in Monday's non-conference match.

Playing without two of their top three players, the Beavers forced the Judges to three sets at first and second singles. Junior Kana Moriyama (Redmond, Wash. / Redmond) dropped the first set against the visitors' top singles player, 7-5, before rallying in the second set and coming three points away from pulling out the victory in the supertiebreaker. Similarly, juinor Julia Reisler (Plano, Texas / Greenhill) won the first set, 6-2, at second singles before surrendering the second set. Reisler came even closer than her counterpart in the supertiebreaker, needing just two points to win the match.

Head Coach Mandy Gamble and the Beavers will have a lengthy layoff before returning to the court on Sunday, Mar. 4 to host Christopher Newport University at 1 p.m.
