TEMPE, Ariz. (July 24, 2018) – The Caltech women's tennis team has qualified six scholar-athletes for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic team, announced on Tuesday.
Seniors Sarah Cai (Livermore, Calif. / West Lafayette Jr./Sr.) and Erin Wang (Auburn, Calif. / Del Oro) and juniors Julia Reisler (Plano, Texas / Greenhill) and Kana Moriyama (Redmond, Wash. / Redmond) returned to the list after successfully qualifying among last year's seven-woman all-academic class, while freshmen Ankita Roychoudhury (Madison, Conn. / Daniel Hand) and Sarina Liu (Rolling Hills, Calif. / Palos Verdes Peninsula) represented Caltech for the first time on a list that included over 100 Division III institutions.
The women also received the ITA All-Academic Team award, awarded to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above. All varsity letter winners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year, including fall 2017 and spring 2018. In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
