PASADENA (Mar. 28, 2019) – The Caltech women's tennis team returned to No. 20 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's national rankings, tying its all-time best rankings from earlier in the season. The Beavers also check in at fourth in the west regional rankings since January after being left off the previous list. Caltech stands only behind SCIAC powerhouses No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges and No. 4 Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, in addition to No. 19 Trinity University (Texas) on the regional list.
Caltech just as notably made noise in the individual ranks. Senior Kana Moriyama (Redmond, Wash. / Redmond) has been ranked as the 15th-best singles player in the region and freshman Anna Tifrea (Fullerton, Calif. / Troy) made her debut on the ITA's list as the 20th-ranked player in the West. Moriyama, along with sophomore doubles partner Sarina Liu (Rolling Hills, Calif. / Palos Verdes Peninsula) have additionally been ranked as the sixth-best doubles team in the region and fourth among SCIAC foes.
Head Coach Mandy Gamble and the Beavers will play their next match against SCIAC foe No. 37 University of Redlands at home this Saturday at 10 a.m.
