WHITTIER, CA – The Whittier women's water polo team raced out to the lead and played strong defense en route to a 12-1 win over Caltech.
It was the SCIAC opener for the Beavers.
The seventh ranked Poets outscored Caltech 6-1 in the opening period and never looked back. The home squad held the Beavers scoreless the rest of the game as they methodically pulled away.
The Beavers got off 18 shots in the game but a combination of solid Poets defense and miss fires kept Caltech off the scoreboard.
Hanna Dodd scored the Beavers goal. The senior also had a team high and Beavers season high seven steals in the contest.
Connie Hseuh made six saves in front the cage.
Caltech continues league play when they host Chapman on Wednesday afternoon at 5 p.m.
