Harriers Compete Against SCIAC Foes at Multiduals

LA MIRADA, CA – The Beavers cross country teams took part in the annual SCIAC multidual meet on Friday afternoon on La Mirada Park.

Scoring for the event was based on head-to-head match-ups as each school was scored against the other schools individually. ClaremontMuddScripps posted an 8-0 mark in the men's and women's event to claim first place in the team competition.

The Beaver male harriers posted wins over Cal Lutheran and Chapman while missing out on beating the University of Redlands by one point. Leading the way for the men was first-year runner Alex Pien who crossed the finish line in 27:43. Two seconds later fellow first-year harrier Aditya Bhagavathi completed the 8K course as Caltech's second finisher.

Andy Zucker came in third position for the Beavers with a time of 28:24. The final scoring runners for the Beavers were Elliot Simon (29:03) and Ian Koss (29:14).

Both Simon and Pien had their personal best 8K times.

The Caltech womens team posted a win over new SCIAC foe Chapman during the first race of the day.

Stephanie Reynolds, once again, took top honors for Caltech as she completed the race in 24:04 - a personal record for the sophomore. Juliette Becker finished the 6K race in 24:48 as the second best Beavers harrier. Junior Thrisha Guchait time of 26:45 earned her the third best finish for Caltech and a personal best as well.

Alice Michel set her 6K personal best as she completed her first SCIAC multidual event in 27:22 while Marlyn Moore's time of 27:54 rounded out Caltech's top five.
