Beaver Harriers Make National Academic Mark
PASADENA, Calif. – The USTFCCCA recognized the men's and
women's cross country teams as having one of the top team GPA's in
the nation. To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country
Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 through
the 2012 fall semester.
The Caltech's men's squad posted the highest team GPA in the
nation with a 3.72 GPA. The University of Washington, St. Louis was
second best with a 3.61 GPA. It is the second straight season the
Beaver men has one of the top two team GPA’s in the nation.
On the women's side the Beavers had a 3.46 GPA.
"To be list among the top two teams in the nation for the second
straight year is outstanding. I am really proud of their commitment
to being a well-round student-athlete," 14th year head coach Scott
Jung said. "The honor is also a testament to their ability to
support each other both on the course and in their academic
endeavors."
Across the country there were 197 women's teams who earned the
team accolade while 141 men's squads received the honor.
