LA MIRADA, CA – In the first of two SCIAC competitions, the Caltech cross country team competed at the conference's multi-dual event.
Scoring for the event was based on head-to-head match-ups as each school was scored against the other schools individually. The Caltech women knocked off La Verne in their head-to-head match-up while the men topped Cal Lutheran.
Stephanie Reynolds, Marlyn Moore finished one-two for the Beavers in the women's race while both setting 6K personal bests. Reynolds crossed the finish line in 23:37 as the Beavers top competitor. Moore's time of 24:19 nearly put her in the top third of the field of 112 runners.
Juliette Becker's time of 25:18 was third fastest among Beaver runners. A pair of first-year runners rounded out the top five for Caltech. Parul Pubbi completed the 6K course in 26:25 while Emily Mazo crossed the finish line in 27:15.
During the men's race Aditya Bhagavathi finished first for Caltech with a time of 27:14 which was 31-second improvement from his time at the same course last season. Jared Forte and Michael Ignatowich finished second and third for Caltech with times of 28:08 and 28:10 respectively.
Juan Ademe ran a personal best time of 28:32 to finish fourth among Caltech harriers. Ian Koss rounded out the scoring runners for the Beavers as the junior completed the 8K loop in 28:44.
The final SCIAC race of the season is in two weeks when the nine teams compete at the conference championships on Nov. 2 at Prado Park in Chino, CA.
