Caltech Hosting First Ever Midnight Madness

PASADENA, Calif. - For the first time in Caltech’s basketball history, the Beavers will kick-off the season with a “Midnight Madness” celebration.  Beginning at 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14 the men’s and women’s basketball teams invite all members of the community to the Braun Athletic Center. There will be food, contests, prizes, and special performances. The event highlight will be at 12:01 a.m. when the men's and women's teams will be introduced.

“There is a lot to look forward to this season," said third year men's basketball coach Oliver Eslinger. "Adding this event to our schedule is a great way for not only the Caltech community, but all members of the Pasadena community to get involved."

“We want to continue the momentum of our record breaking season, so having a Midnight Madness celebration is an excellent way to let people know what is going on with our women’s basketball program,” commented eighth year head coach Sandra Marbut.

Fans are encouraged to come prepared to participate in games where there will be wide variety of giveaways. For Caltech students, there will be a prize of $2,000 awarded to the student house that has the highest percentage of attendees.

Caltech undergraduates Daniel Sexton and Kyle Verdone will serve as hosts.

Timeline of the Evening:

10:30 p.m. – BBQ begins
11:00 p.m. – All attendees moved into Braun Gym for games, prizes and giveaways
12:01 a.m. – Basketball Teams introduced
12:30 a.m. – Event conclusion
