SKILLMAN, N.J. (July 20, 2015) – The Caltech men’s and women’s tennis teams both have received Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team honors, with 11 individual student-athletes earning ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2013 and spring 2014).
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
Juniors Rushikesh Joshi (Sunnyvale, Calif. / Archbishop Mitty), Ishan Mehta (Fort Gratiot, Mich. / Port Huron Northern) and Leonardo Zornberg (Austin, Texas / Liberal Arts & Science Acad.), sophomores Ruthwick Pathireddy (Irvine, Calif. / Whitney) and Sathwick Pathireddy (Irvine, Calif. / Whitney) and freshmen Fabio Arai (Sao Paulo, Brazil / Colegia ETAPA) and Zachary Lipel (Tarzana, Calif. / North Hollywood) made the cut for the men’s team, while sophomores Sophia Chen (Newport Beach, Calif. / Corona Del Mar) and Katie Antilla (Redondo Beach, Calif. / Redondo Union) and freshmen Rachel Morton (Oxford, Ohio / Talawanda) and Erin Wang (Auburn, Calif. / Del Oro) represented the women’s team.
