The Caltech baseball squared off with the University of La Verne in a three-game SCIAC series the first weekend of April.
The weekend set begins the final month of confernce play as the eight teams vie for the SCIAC's automatic berth in the NCAA Championships.
April 1, 2011 - La Verne 13, Caltech 1 (Box Score)
With the Leopards holds a 1-0 lead after 2 1/2 innings, the home team grabbed all the game's momentum by scoring five runs in the third and four in the fourth inning en route to the 13-1 victory.
Brian Penserini started on the mound for the Beavers giving up seven hits and striking out two in four innings of work.
April 2, 2011 - La Verne 23, Caltech 2 (Box Score)
La Verne scored at least three runs in all but one inning as they knocked off Caltech 23-2 in the first game of the twinbill.
The visitors pounded out 26 hits as 17 different players recorded at least one hit. Sergio Munez and Jacob Ludvik each had three hits to pace the Leopards offense.
David Carrega's second inning double drove in Albie Lavin and Nick Robertson to account for the Beaver runs. Lavin and Robertson also had a hit for Caltech.
April 2, 2011 - La Verne 12, Caltech 0 (Box Score)
The Leopards jumped out to a 10-0 after 3 1/2 innings as they went on to a 12-0 victory to sweep the weekend series from the Beavers.
Jacob Ludvik, Sergio Munoz and Jason Moralez each tallied two-hits a piece to lead the 15-hit attack for La Verne.
The trio of Mason Freedman, Eric Schropp and Albie Lavin recorded hits for Caltech.
