LOS ANGELES, CA – Occidental got on the board early and kept the Beavers off the board in posting a 8-0 victory on Wednesday afternoon.
The home team got off to a quick start as Jack Day scored an unassisted goal in the 10th minute. Caltech had a chance to respond a few moments later but a shot by Thomas Kwok went high. The Beavers had a golden chance go by the way side as a Kumni Jeje shot rattled the post but deflected away in the 25th minute.
Just a few seconds after the Jeje shot, Kwok sent a corner kick into the box for Caltech but the Beavers couldn't find the back of the net. Occidental fortunes continued to be better than Caltech's when they made the score 2-0 off a Daniel Watson goal in the 27th minute. The Tiger padded their lead with 53 seconds left in the half when Ryan Keong found the back of the net.
Occidental's offense continued to apply pressure during the early portions of the second half. Keong scored his second goal of the game 55 seconds into the stanza off a feed from Watson. Watson scored his second goal of the game in the 49th minute to give the Tigers a five goal cushion. A Ben Grime goal less than five minutes later wrapped up the early second half scoring for the home team.
Munraj Singth scored an unassisted goal in the contest's 72nd minute before the contest's final goal came when Ben Murray beat Caltech back-up goalie Juan Pablo Ocampo in the 85th minute.
Caltech continues their three game road trip on Saturday when they travel to Chapman for a 7 p.m. start against the new SCIAC member.
