PASADENA, CA – In the first ever meeting between the two schools, Arizona Christian scored a handful of early goals en route to a 10-1 win over Caltech on Thursday afternoon in a men's soccer match-up.
The Firestorm scored in the game's first minute and never looked back. A Hanzel Rodriguez goal in the game's 15th minute concluded the scoring onslaught in giving the visitors a 5-0 lead. Neither team scored the rest of the first half.
Marec Serlin posted Caltech's first goal of the season when he knocked home a ball inside box. Serlin's goal came when a Thomas Kwok pass caused a scrum in front of the net but Serlin had enough control to find the back of the net.
However, the home team's momentum was halted as the Firestorm scored five unanswered goals to close out the game.
Rodriguez found the back of the net on four occasions to lead the Arizona Christian offense.
Caltech next game is Monday when they face SCIAC foe Chapman on the road at 7 p.m.
