CMS Second Half Outburst Aids in Win

PASADENA, CA - A strong second half led ClaremontMuddScripps to a 6-0 win over Caltech on Saturday afternoon.

After allowing a Hogan Marhoefer goal in the 14th minute the Beavers defense clamped down and kept the defending conference champions off the scoreboard.

Caltech had a solid chance to get a goal a few moments later when Alec Sands put a shot on a net from in close but Stags goalie Joseph Mondello came-up with the save.

After halftime the Beavers nearly tied the score when Ashay Gore put a shot on goal in the 48th minute but Mondello made the save. The Stags put their second goal on the board when Marhoefer scored his second goal of the day in the 51st minute on a corner kick.

Any hopes of Caltech come back were pushed aside when ClaremontMuddScripps scored two goals in the 63rd minute as Anthony Contreras and Mehron Abdo found the back of the net. Goals in the 77th and 86th minute by Dylan Saffer and Salar Hajimirsadeghi respectively rounded out the scoring.

Caltech returns to the field on Monday when they travel to Pomona-Pitzer for a 4 p.m. game with the Sagehens.
