REDLANDS, CA – A flurry of goals midway through the second half proved to be a big difference maker in the University of Redland's 5-0 soccer win over Caltech on Saturday afternoon.
The home team got on the board just past the three-minute mark of the game when Isaac Bogart fired home a shot to the bottom right portion of the net. With the score still 1-0 as the first half continued on, Marec Serlin's chance to tie the game in the 33nd minute went for naught when Dylan Ochoa made the save.
Early in the second half Serlin had another opportunity to tie the game but Ochoa came up with a save on his shot in the 57th minute.
The Bulldogs grabbed all the game's momentum during a five minute stretch beginning in the 67th minute. Grahame Fitz started the scoring with a shot in the lower corner. Just over a minute later Evan Keny-Guyer made the score 3-0.
Redland's wrapped up the scoring in the 70th and 72nd respectively as Colin Zaccagnio and Matt Speegle found the back of the net.
J.D. Feist continued to play a solid goalkeeper for the Beavers. The first-year made 11 saves in his 14th game of the season.
Caltech plays their final road game of the 2013 campaign on Monday evening when they travel to Cal Lutheran for a 7:00 p.m. start.
