PASADENA, CA - The Caltech men's soccer team was one of 270 collegiate soccer programs from NCAA Division I, II, and III and NAIA to earn the 2012-13 Team Academic Award.
The award, which is presented annually by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), is bestowed on collegiate programs whose teams maintain a 3.0 grade point average or above for the entire academic year.
Caltech's 3.47 team GPA was the highest among all NCAA Division III schools as the fourth highest in the entire nation across all spectrums of college athletics.
"I am so proud of our team. It's hard to completely grasp all that goes into being a student-athlete at the most prestigious institute in the world and it is great to see the players hard work be recognized," said 13th year head coach Rolo Uribe. "It's a tribute to how each of the student-athletes balances their academic with athletic demands."
Fellow SCIAC schools Cal Lutheran and ClaremontMuddScripps also received the yearly honor.
