PASADENA, Calif. (June 25, 2015) – The Caltech men's soccer program has released its schedule for the Fall 2015 season, which will include 10 home games. The Beavers' home opener is set for Friday, Sept. 4 at 4 p.m.
Caltech opens the season at NAIA San Diego Christian College on August 29 for Head Coach Phil Murray's first game at the helm. The Hawks posted a 4-11-1 record in 2014.
The Beavers then host American Sports University in their home opener to kick off a three-game home stand. Caltech will also host Pasadena local Providence Christian College the following day on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 1 p.m. and open SCIAC play versus Chapman University, which finished third in the 2014 table, on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 4 p.m. The Beavers drew with the Panthers in Orange, Calif. last season, earning their first point in conference play since 2011. Brine Award of Distinction winner Marec Serlin drew an early penalty and converted from the spot to take the 1-0 lead before 10-man Chapman equalized on a rebound off a penalty of their own in the 46th minute. All-SCIAC Second Team sophomore John David Feist (Dallas, Texas / Jesuit College Prep) made nine saves, including one on the penalty.
Caltech heads to Whittier College (7-9-2 overall, 5-9-2 SCIAC) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (9-7-1, 8-7-1) for its first two SCIAC road games on Saturday, Sept. 12 and Wednesday, Sept. 16. Regular season champion University of Redlands (13-9, 11-5) comes to Pasadena at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19 before the Beavers head out to Thousand Oaks, Calif. to take on eighth-place Cal Lutheran University (5-10-4, 4-9-3) on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
Murray's men alternate pairs of home and away games over the next three weeks, with Occidental College (13-6-1, 10-4-2) and the University of La Verne (11-8-1, 8-8) coming to Caltech on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 4 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 4 p.m. The Beavers then head to SCIAC Post-Season Tournament champion Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (14-6-2, 10-4-2) on Saturday, Oct. 3 and begin the second leg of the conference slate at Redlands on Monday, Oct. 5.
Caltech welcomes CMS and Whittier on Saturday, Oct. 10 and Wednesday, Oct. 14, both at 4 p.m, before heading to Chapman on Saturday, Oct. 17 and returning to Pasadena to face the Sagehens on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 4 p.m.
The Beavers' final pair of away games come quickly with La Verne hosting on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 11 a.m. and Oxy welcoming Caltech just two days later on Monday, Oct. 26 at 4 p.m. Caltech closes out the regular season at home on Halloween, Saturday, Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. against Cal Lutheran, with the SCIAC Championships set for the following weekend.
