PASADENA, Calif. (Sept. 9, 2015) – Junior J.D. Feist (Richardson, Texas / Jesuit College Prep) turned in another stellar performance between the posts, making 11 saves as the Caltech men's soccer team opened SCIAC play against Chapman University on Wednesday.
The Panthers took an early lead and held on for a 3-0 victory to improve to 2-1-1 overall and 1-1-0 in the conference, while the Beavers start 0-1 (0-1).
Feist turned away the first shot of the game in the second minute, but Chapman notched its first goal in the seventh minute. The Panthers barrage continued for the next 20 minutes, when the visitors went ahead 2-0 in the 27th minute. Feist would record seven saves in the half.
The second half brought more of the same as Chapman ripped an identical 13 shots, although the Beavers defense did better to limit the Panthers' looks on goal to five. Chapman netted an insurance goal in the 63rd minute to seal the win, with Caltech mustering a lone shot on target in the 87th minute via junior Alec Sands (Longwood, Fla. / Trinity Preparatory School).
