PASADENA, Calif. (Sept. 26, 2015) – Junior J.D. Feist (Richardson, Texas / Jesuit College Prep) made a season-high 13 saves in a 6-0 defeat to SCIAC-leading Occidental College on Saturday afternoon.
Oxy maintains its position atop the conference table at 7-0-3 overall and 6-0-2 in the SCIAC, while Caltech falls to 0-6 (0-6).
The Tigers wasted no time in putting pressure on the Beavers defense and struck for the opener in the 12th minute. After Oxy's second goal in the 22nd minute, Caltech's defense managed to organize itself better and held the Tigers shotless over the next 10 minutes. Oxy then unleashed a wave of attacks just before the break, resulting in a third goal in the 40th minute for the 3-0 halftime lead.
The Beavers held firm as the second half got underway, but as Feist was steadily forced to make saves at a quicker rate, the floodgates eventually opened with the Tigers netting three goals on their final four shots in a six-minute span stretching from the 80th to 86th minute.
Freshman Tristan Née (Dallas, Texas / R.L. Turner) did well to put a pair of shots on target in the second half, but those would be the only threats Caltech could muster.
Head Coach Phil Murray and the Beavers will host second-place University of La Verne (7-2, 4-2) on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 4 p.m.
