LA VERNE, Calif. (Oct. 24, 2015) – The Caltech men's soccer team allowed a season-low number of shots, with just five on goal, in a narrow 2-0 defeat at the University of La Verne on Saturday night.

The Leopards scored early in the first half and converted a penalty in the second to improve to 13-4-1 overall and 9-4-1 in the SCIAC while the Beavers fall to 0-14 (0-14).

La Verne's second shot of the game and its first on target found the back of the net in the 12th minute, but Caltech did not fold.  Junior J.D. Feist (Richardson, Texas / Jesuit College Prep) stopped the next two Leopard chances and the offense began to click, with freshman Tristan Née (Dallas, Texas / R.L. Turner) and junior Schaeffer Reed (Miami, Fla. / Westminster Christian) each forcing a save with shots on frame before halftime.

The Leopards added the insurance goal in the 55th minute and junior Alec Sands (Longwood, Fla. / Trinity Prep) put an effort on target for the Beavers in the 66th, but the hosts would not be breached and recorded the shutout.

Head Coach Phil Murray and the Beavers will take on Occidental College (11-3-3, 8-3-3) in their final road game of the season on Monday, Oct. 26.
