PASADENA (Sept. 14, 2018) – Led by sophomore goalkeeper Joe Como (Glen Cove, N.Y. / Friends Acad.), the Caltech men's soccer team blanked the University of Redlands in the second half of Friday's SCIAC game.
Como ended up leading the Beavers with five saves and junior goalkeeper Richard Shim (New York, N.Y. / Phillips Acad.) made his debut, making a key save late in the second half. Caltech also held the visitors scoreless through the game's first 21 minutes, where freshman Samir Johnson (Portland, Ore. / Jesuit) had an opportunity shortly after to score his third goal in three games. Johnson also had a header sail just over the crossbar earlier in the game.
Head Coach Phil Murray and the Beavers will be back again on Wednesday, Sept. 19 against Chapman University at 4 p.m.
