Research and STEM Activities
Conducts reasearch on the theory and development of periodic nanostructures that lead to practical applications in optical fibers, bio- and chemical sensors. Runs theoretical models to predict the response of periodic structure designs. Builds the sensors in the clean room and then tests their response, to then compare to the model prediction. Under the leadership of Dr. Robert Magnusson at the University of Texas, Arlington...Managed and analyzed "big data" associated with hundereds of thousands of systems. Learned to identify what combination of applications, databases, middleware, and operating systems are the most reliable and how appling certain upgrades will increase or decrease overall system availibity. The project was run by Hewlett Packard and is nominated for the President Quality Award.
