OJAI, Calif. – Two members of the Caltech men's tennis team competed at the Ojai Tournament on Thursday and Friday.
Devashish Joshi beat Cody Kowalczyk from Cal Lutheran 6-3, 6-1 in his opening round match. In posting the victory, the sophomore became just the second Caltech men's tennis player to win a match at the tournament.
In his second match, Joshi fell to Bryce Bettwy of UC Santa Cruz 6-1, 6-1 in the round of 32.
The duo of Joshi and Luka Mernik teamed up for the doubles portion of the tournament. In their opening round match they posted an 8-4 win over Eric Furuya and Spencer Hing from Pacific University. In their Round of 16 match-up with Erik Rosner and Ian Stanley of UC Santa Cruz, they dropped an 8-0 decision to the sixth seeded tandem.
Caltech concludes its season next weekend at the SCIAC Championships hosted by the University of Redlands.
