PASADENA (Oct. 21, 2017) – A 3-2 Caltech lead in the first half, fronted by junior Eshan Govil (Redwood City, Calif. / Sacred Heart Prep) and freshman Steven Csaposs (Davis, Calif. / Davis) gave promise to Saturday's men's water polo match against visiting SCIAC foe Claremont-Mud-Scripps Colleges.
Govil started the Beavers off right with a goal just within the game's first two minutes on a nice feed from Csaposs. Csaposs then went on to score the Beavers' remaining five goals, including two more in the second period to spot his team a one-goal lead going into the second period. The Caltech defense held strong by allowing just two goals to the Stags in the second frame while the offense, though aggressive was unable to match the team's first period success rate.
In assisting on Govil's initial goal, Csaposs accounted for all six Caltech goals in some way. Govil, meanwhile assisted on two of Csaposs' goals and senior Richard May (Guilford, Conn. / Choate Rosemary Hall) notched his third assist of the season when he fed Csaposs for the Beavers' final goal of the game with three minutes to go.
Head Coach Jon Bonafede and the Beavers will have a lengthy break before returning to the pool on Saturday, Oct. 28 when they look to make it three-straight for the first time ever against SCIAC rival Occidental College in Eagle Rock.
