Earning a major in Chemical Engineering… Came to Caltech to study at the highest academic level, and to pursue personal and objective excellence as a scholar-athlete… Did SURF research in the Greer group this summer on analyzing the mechanical properties (deformation mechanisms) of copper-iron interface-containing nano-pillars with the aim towards designing radiation-tolerant, structural materials for nuclear applications… Was in the Solar Materials Discovery Program under Professor Harry Gray in high school, researching bismuth and tungsten as possible metal-oxides catalysts for the splitting of water by sunlight… She is the daughter of Johannes and Juliana… Lists her older brother, Jonathan, who was a member of the UCSD swim team and swam against Olympians Michael Phelps and Brendan Hansen at Nationals, as her biggest athletic influence
